Coral & Flame Stitch

“

Our new collections draw inspiration from a traditional needlepoint technique and distinctive corals found on a tropical island. Our designers have taken these very different sources of inspiration and created bold patterns full of movement, texture and contrast thatrespect and reflect their origins, yet are wholly and uniquely Fermoie.” Tom Helme, co-founder, Fermoie

Two new designs inspired by traditional craftsmanship and the natural world. Developed and made in-house, both are available as fabric, wallpaper, and cushions.

Coral

Inspired by the intricate forms of bleached coral fragments found along a Fijian shoreline, Coral explores the distinctive radial structure of honeycomb coral. Observed, drawn, and refined in the studio, these natural forms are translated into a gently ordered repeat with an almost floral quality. Subtle variation in tone and texture echoes thechanging play of light across the coral’s surface, bringing depth, softness and quietmovement to the design. Coral brings an organic rhythm to an interior. Its colourways have been carefully refined tosit naturally within the wider Fermoie collection, complementing plains, stripes andpatterned designs alike. Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand before being translated to cloth. Every colourway is individually developed and refined by eye, withpalettes carefully edited to achieve harmony across the wider Fermoie collection. Designed and printed in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire, our production process combines proprietary color-mixing with carefully adapted printing techniques and water-based pigments to preserve the depth, texture, and character of the original artwork. The result is a fabric with depth, tactility and quiet character, reflecting the artistry and craftsmanship that define Fermoie

Flame Stitch

Flame Stitch reinterprets the traditional needlepoint embroidery pattern firstpopularised during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, where repeating steppedstitches create the distinctive rhythm of flickering flames. Through hand drawing and careful studio refinement, the familiar zigzag softens with subtle variations in scale and line. The result retains the movement and structure of the original while introducing a quieter, more contemporary character. Flame Stitch brings rhythm and texture to an interior. About Fermoie

Fermoie is a creator of fine fabrics, wallpaper, lampshades, and accessories all designed and manufactured entirely in-house using its own proprietary color-mixing and production techniques. Every Fermoie design begins with the drawn line, with the full repeat pattern meticulously created by hand, on paper, before it’s translated to screen engraving. Every color is individually created, mixed, and edited in-house according to their carefully considered palette and artistic principles. Customers can be confident that any chosen combination will match perfectly, ensuring aesthetic harmony, artistic balance, and design integrity.

Fermoie represents the opposite of, and antidote to ‘throwaway culture’, making products with lasting beauty using materials and processes that tread lightly on the Earth and its resources. All cloth is exclusive to Fermoie and aligns with its sustainability commitments to keep its House in Order, source Ever-Better Materials and work towards Net Zero Carbon emissions. Pure linen is woven to the studio team’s specification from highly sustainable flax grown locally to the mill. Cottons, union cloths and linen sheers are produced in England. Launched in 2024, its Indoor-Outdoor fabrics are woven in Lancashire, England, from 100% recycled plastic bottles and made without PFCs, PFAS and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’.

Fermoie was established in 2010 by Farrow & Ball founders Tom Helme and Martin Ephson. It now employs over 50 people at its design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough, England, and showroom and retail space in Pimlico Road, London, where cushions and lampshades are also available for purchase.
