“The Venetian Papers, inspired by 19th century bookbinding prints that I acquired from an antique bookbinder in Venice.” – Susan Deliss

THE VENETIAN PAPERS
Susan Deliss Venetian Papers is a wallpaper collection inspired by 19th-century Venetian bookbinding prints that Susan acquired from an antique bookbinder in Venice. They are named after key figures in Venetian history. Small scale, in subtle colours, the Venetian Papers are sophisticated and versatile, suitable both on their own and as a stylish backdrop to a multi-layered room. They can be used in both traditional and contemporary interiors. The Venetian Papers are printed to order in England, with a two-week lead time. Susan Deliss can create bespoke colours on request.
A destination now for pleasure and a flight into the senses, it’s hard to believe that Venice was initially a refuge – a place of water and mists where its first inhabitants escaped from invaders marauding through mainland Italy. It is still a place to escape to, to indulge, to imagine. The ever-changing lagoon and the absence of motor vehicles strike a contrast with the modern lives that most of us lead and allow us to slow down, admire, and revel in this aesthetic Utopia. Sight, sound, smell, taste, touch – all senses are kept alive in a unique way.
WEAVES
Susan’s new weaves – Karaj and Trebizond – are joyful and full of energy, color, and texture. They can be used for upholstery, curtains, fabric walling. blinds, ottomans/footstools, and cushions. Woven in England.
KARAJ
This joyful stripe is inspired by several textiles that Susan has found on her travels. Woven stripes are as old as the hills, but this is an innovative blend of colours and widths of stripe created by Susan Deliss that combines classical elements with a contemporary energy.
TREBIZOND
This highly textural design features elements of antique patterns, interpreted and adapted by Susan Deliss in collaboration with her weavers in a distinctly contemporary manner. It is playful and pleasing in equal measure.
