Inspired by nature, global travel, art and architecture, Richard Smith’s fabrics and papers combine imagination and informality with the honed craftsmanship of an experienced eye.
 Richard created his own fabric house, Madeaux, in 2011 after a career spanning more than 30 years, producing beguiling designs for a host of renowned fabric houses. Now, from his East Sussex studio overlooking the landscape of the south coast and the English Channel beyond, Richard creates covetable printed, embroidered and woven fabrics, producing seasonal capsule collections that are inspired as much by the wildlife found right on his doorstep as by the ancient documents or vintage tapestries unearthed during his travels. Many pieces start life as water colours on his sketchpad and most are created by hand. From whimsical florals and classic stripes to bold geometrics, each has a sense of playfulness and understated chic. view the full collection inside JR NY 🩵

Designers, join us for "A Conversation with Katie Designers, join us for "A Conversation with Katie Ridder: Textiles, Wallpaper, and the Art of Pattern" Date: Thursday, March 19 Time: 12pm – 3pm Location: JR DC | Suite 325 The @katieridderinc fabric and wallpaper collection is hand-screened, with fabrics printed on Belgian linen. Drawing inspiration from nature, museum visits abroad, Japanese woodblock prints, stylized botanicals, and classical European design, the collection blends traditional motifs with a modern, graphic twist. Katie Ridder will discuss how the result is decorative and sophisticated yet playful and unexpected, featuring clear, saturated hues including corals, blues, greens, periwinkles, and pinks combined in inventive and sometimes surprising ways.
