Tara and Salina
“
A landmark moment: Fermoie launches new fabric and wallpaper collections for Spring 2026
“Tara and Salina represent a true landmark as our first collections to include both fabric and wallpaper from launch. This sets the template for all that will follow, demonstrating our absolute commitment to wallpaper as a discrete, permanent, and coherent element of the Fermoie product family.” Martin Ephson, co-founder, Fermoie.
“As artists, we constantly observe, engage with, and find inspiration in the world around us. The freedom and opportunity to translate those impulses into new collections is one of the many great joys of Fermoie. A design can be sparked by a grand vista or life-defining event; yet there is also real excitement to be found in looking at familiar shapes, marks, and patterns with fresh eyes and seeing new possibilities emerge within them: Tara and Salina beautifully represent these contrasting but immensely powerful creative dynamics at work.” Tom Helme, co-founder, Fermoie.
TARA
The design is based on Mt Taranaki, whose near-perfect conical outline and snow-capped peak are captured in rhythmic rows of geometric shapes, subtly softened by their individually hand-drawn outlines as seen by our Head of Studio when hiking in New Zealand on her recent sabbatical. The mountain’s name comes from the Māori word ‘tara’ meaning ‘peak’ or ‘point’: serendipitously, the same word also means ‘hill’ in Irish Gaelic, reflecting and resonating with the strong family connections to Ireland enjoyed by the Fermoie founders.
Tara has been designed for and printed on Fermoie’s 100% cotton basecloth, and also faithfully translated to wallpaper. Both fabric and wallpaper are offered in the same 14 colorways, based on a tonal combination of complementary and contrasting colors with broad appeal and enormous scope for building a wider color scheme around the design.
SALINA
The new Salina collection followed a re-exploration and reimagining by the design team of some of their favorite Fermoie designs, particularly Sicily, with its complex marriage of forms and patterns, including seaside stripes, elements from folk costumes, and geometric deco shapes. This process kindled a new excitement about interlocking and crossing shapes over each other to create movement and texture. Named after the small island in the Aeolian archipelago to the north of Sicily itself, Salina highlights how Fermoie creates the perfect-sized mark that then interacts with and brings to life the weave of the basecloth.
Produced on Fermoie’s 100% Linen basecloth and beautifully translated to wallpaper, Salina is offered in 14 colorways, combining earthy tonal colors with a couple of vibrant complementary colors, adding flashes of visual interest and the signature Fermoie playfulness.
About Fermoie
Fermoie is a creator of fine fabrics, wallpaper, lampshades, and accessories all designed and manufactured entirely in-house using its own proprietary color-mixing and production techniques. Every Fermoie design begins with the drawn line, with the full repeat pattern meticulously created by hand, on paper, before it’s translated to screen engraving. Every color is individually created, mixed, and edited in-house according to their carefully considered palette and artistic principles. Customers can be confident that any chosen combination will match perfectly, ensuring aesthetic harmony, artistic balance, and design integrity.
Fermoie represents the opposite of, and antidote to ‘throwaway culture’, making products with lasting beauty using materials and processes that tread lightly on the Earth and its resources. All cloth is exclusive to Fermoie and aligns with its sustainability commitments to keep its House in Order, source Ever-Better Materials and work towards Net Zero Carbon emissions. Pure linen is woven to the studio team’s specification from highly sustainable flax grown locally to the mill. Cottons, union cloths and linen sheers are produced in England. Launched in 2024, its Indoor-Outdoor fabrics are woven in Lancashire, England, from 100% recycled plastic bottles and made without PFCs, PFAS and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’.
Fermoie was established in 2010 by Farrow & Ball founders Tom Helme and Martin Ephson. It now employs over 50 people at its design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough, England, and showroom and retail space in Pimlico Road, London, where cushions and lampshades are also available for purchase. The company received the King’s Award for Enterprise (International Trade) in 2024, and became B Corp certified in 2025 with Fermoie fabrics available worldwide through selected retailer partners.
