Flower Room
Tucked away at the back of a country home, flower rooms are traditionally quiet, utilitarian spaces devoted to the art of floral arrangement. For Madeaux’s SS26 collection, designer Richard Smith has reflected on this sanctuary as a space where nature is gently curated before finding its way into the heart of the home. The flagship of the collection is four new floral fabric designs: large-scale bouquets of ‘Flower Room’, naive stencil-like ‘Pineapple Basket’, a graphic trellis inspired by box hedging ‘Knot Garden’, and an indoor/outdoor weave ‘Leafy Grove’. In addition to the new designs, Madeaux has introduced new colors of weaves, Tiree, Hotchpotch, and Covehurst Stripe, an updated outdoor offering of Samarkand, and two new colors of much-loved Aviary.

Leafy Grove: This small-scale leaf motif is woven in chunky polypropylene yarns. Inspired by a fragment of a rag rug, this new high-performance fabric references the hand-woven textile that originally inspired it. Equally suited to a sofa indoors as to a swing seat on the veranda, it is wonderfully soft and offers fantastic durability and usability.
Flower Room: Large-scale flowers in a classic bouquet layout are softened by the texture of a vintage textile, creating this enchanting, ethereal addition to the collection. It could be dressed up with passementerie for a more classic look, or paired with plain linens and textures for an informal, romantic appeal. Printed on a linen mix.
Pineapple Basket: Stencilled floors were a popular decorative touch in early colonial homes, as was the pineapple motif: not only a symbol of hospitality, the combination of the leaf crown with the fruit’s spiralling scales has always made for a stylish decorative device. Here, Madeaux placed it in a basket, painted in a naive style, with plenty of space to create an open layout.
Knot Garden: Madeaux has based the motifs for this softly geometric design on the intertwining layout of the box hedging used in traditional knot gardens – not only did this style of parterre give texture to a plain area of land, but it also brought a sense of whimsy.
Tiree: Named after the most westerly isle in the Inner Hebrides, the colour combination of our original colourway references the deep blue sky, clear waters, and golden sands of this magical place. Sure, new colorways are again inspired by Tiree, but the ethereal early morning is captured in 02 Seaglass with neutral tones and a watery blue. Woven from 100% inherently FR polypropylene, it has exceptional durability and lightfastness and can withstand any weather.
Samarkand Outdoor: A hand-painted characterful Ikat design that has been a long-time staple of the Madeaux collection, offering the bold graphic qualities of a contemporary geometric pattern together with the rich textural nature of hand-woven textiles. Now available in 100% Outdoor Quality PL on a textured ground with a fabulous handle. The colors are based on the original 01 that combines taupe, duck egg, and burnt orange – a gorgeous statement fabric that’s suitable for upholstery both indoors and outside.
Hotchpotch: A new colorway of our popular Hotchpotch weave that combines a multitude of soft colours with a lustrous and usable construction. ‘03 Seaglass’ offers a pared-down palette to introduce a near-neutral colourway that combines flashes of blush, duck egg, sage, and cream to sit within the most serene schemes – imagine this on an ottoman at the end of a bed. Madeaux loves how the contrast between this new addition and the two previous colorways features rich jewel tones and every shade of blue.
Covehurst Stripe: Woven in Scotland by a family-run mill, this sharp fabric combines a linen warp with a lambswool weft for a supple handle and tailored look. The useable scale is inspired by ticking and makes another handsome dual purpose cloth. Now available in a charming soft teal with red highlights,‘06 Red Spruce’ brings a different look to the existing colour palette of soft, nearly neutral colors.
Aviary: In September’s wallcovering collection “Woodland Walks”, Madeaux released two brand new colorways of our much-loved ‘Aviary’ design: a soft ‘Sea Glass’ which combines fresh greens with opalescent blues, and a rich ‘EarthTones’:this features moss, sand, brick, and amethyst for a rich, sophisticated look. For this collection, they matched both new colourways to fabric. Printed on a crisp linen mix, it allows you to pair the wallpaper with this new fabric.
