For decades, we’ve been celebrating the many ways patterns can be presented within a space including on the walls. And in the meantime, here is the making of a charming pattern by @adelphipaperhangings ‘Geranium Trellis’, English, circa 1835-1850 Chinese trellis designs seem to be the inspiration for this British pattern. Although there was not a complete repeat of this pattern, which was discovered on the lining of a trunk, there was sufficient information for a successful reconstruction. With its rambling vines, strict trellis structure and subtly shifting hexagonal lozenge shapes, this block printed pattern illustrates a fine and airy balance.
